  • The game is weighted so that those who are higher up in the social order will have a playing advantage over those below them.

How to Play Scum Card Game

Gaming Cards On Hands

Starting the Play

Determine the sequence of play, which may be accomplished either randomly or through a mutually agreed-upon approach. The player with the three clubs or the three spades initiates the game by playing that card, which may not a wild.

Play Proceeds

In the card game, play proceeds clockwise, with each player needing to play a card or set of cards that beat the previous play in rank and quantity. If a player cannot or chooses not to beat the previous play, they must pass, but they can still play if the same rank is played again in the same round. The player who plays the highest-ranking cards in a round wins that round and starts the next round.

Winning

The winner of each round becomes the president for the next round, and the second player to finish becomes the vice president. Meanwhile, the second-to-last player becomes the vice scum, and the last player becomes the scum. The President has the advantage of being able to lead with any cards in subsequent rounds, while the Scum must play last.

Additionally, the president can take any two cards from the scum’s hand and replace them with any two cards from their hand at the beginning of the next round. The Vice President can do the same to the Vice Scum, but with only one card. This rule gives the President and Vice President a strategic advantage over the Vice Scum and the Scum, respectively.

Additional Rules and Variations:

  • All 2’s are considered bombs and can be played on anything, regardless of value or pairing.
  • Jokers can be included and are either bombs or wild cards. All 3’s are wild, except for the opening card of the game.
  • In a game where a player has all four of one card, they can treat it as a bomb or a completion, as long as it beats the previous cards played.
  • These variants allow for skipping players even if they play a single card of the same rank as the previous player.
  • Wherever a player has no playable cards, they must pass their turn. However, many variants allow for passing at any time.
  • Some variants have additional rules, such as the President being able to create and add their own rule if they are President three times in a row.

Overall, the scum card game is a fun and competitive way to spend time with friends and family. With its unique set of rules, every round is different, and players must always be on their toes to outsmart their opponents and rise to the top as the President.
