About the Swish Card Game Rules & Cards

Swish is a fast-paced, transparent, spatial card game created by ThinkFun that challenges players of all ages to use their spatial reasoning skills to create matches, or “Swishes.”. The game comes with 60 transparent cards, each with a combination of balls and hoops in four different colors: blue, green, red, and orange. 

The objective of the game is to be the first player to create the most Swishes without touching the cards. In the Swish card game, players can make swishes by stacking two to 12 cards so that every ball swishes into a hoop of the same color.

The goal of Swish is to create the most Swishes by stacking cards to align a colored hoop with a ball of the same color. In the game, players can stack from two or 12 cards and must rotate or flip parts to make a match, with the most matches at the end of the game being the winner.

The Swish card game comes with 60 transparent cards, a drawstring bag, and an instruction booklet. The cards are made of durable, high-quality plastic with a smooth texture that is easy to shuffle and handle. The drawstring bag is used to store the cards, and the instruction booklet provides detailed rules and variations for the game.

How to Play Swish Card Game

To engage in Swish game, it is recommended to select a flat playing area that is readily accessible to all players. Select a dealer to shuffle the deck and lay out 16 cards into the playing area in four rows of four. 

To start the game, the dealer says “GO!” and all players search for Swishes without touching the cards in front of them. On the other hand, players can rotate and flip the cards in their minds to find matches. When a player finds a swish, they must yell “Swish!” and the game stops.

Playing the Game

To play Swish, players make “Swishes” by finding two or more cards that can be stacked on top of each other so that every ball fits into a hoop. In this game, players are allowed to rotate and flip the cards, but they must be placed in the same orientation, and no hoop or ball can be left without a match.

Once a Swish is set up, players claim the cards they used to make it, and new cards are laid out. At the end of the game, each card collected is worth one point, and a swish made up of more cards is worth more points.

Validating Swishes

The player who called “Swish!” selects the cards and places them on top of each other. Other players check the cards to confirm that a Swish has been made. If the Swish is valid, the player keeps the cards, and the dealer replaces them with new cards from the draw pile. 

If the Swish is invalid, the player puts the cards back on the table and receives a penalty. For example, they may have to put one of their cards back into the draw pile.

Winning the Game

The play keeps going until all the cards from the draw pile are on the table. To win the game of Swish, a player needs to be the first with the most cards at the end of the game. All the cards taken in Swish are worth a point, so a Swish game made up of more cards is worth more points.

Swish includes varied levels of play so that players of all ages and skill levels can compete. The official rules contain variations to make gameplay easier or harder, depending on age or skill level. For example, you can play Swish Jr., a simplified version of the original game, which is fun for anyone five and up.
