Swoop is also known as Swipe, Swoosh, or Swish. Swoop is a fun and exciting card game that involves taking turns playing cards in the middle of the table based on their value, with the goal of getting rid of all your cards by matching as many cards of the same value as possible.

Swoop is a card game that requires strategy, quick thinking, and a bit of luck and can be played by 3 to 8 players, making it great for groups of friends or family gatherings.

Swoop Cards and Components

To play Swoop, you will need a standard deck of 52 playing cards, and if you want to play with jokers, you need to add two jokers to the deck. However, the Jokers and 10s are treated as special cards and automatically lead to a Swoop. The game also requires paper, a pen to keep score, and a flat surface to play on.

Here are the rules for playing Swoop:

• Set a limit on the number of rounds that you want to go through.
• Pick up the deck, mix them, and deal each player seven cards.
• Lay out the remaining cards in the middle of the table as the stock.
• The players take turns playing cards in the middle of the table based on their values, but not on their suites.
• If a player plays four or more of the same card, this is called swooping, and after that, the cards are removed from the table.
• The moment a player swoops the pile down, they get to play again.
• If a player plays less than four cards, the next player to the left plays their cards.
• The first player to run out of cards ends the hand, and the player with the lowest score ends the whole play.

How to Play Swoop Card Game

To start, choose how many people you want to play with, how many rounds you want to play, and how much you want to win. Then, shuffle the deck of cards, and hand out seven cards to each of the players, and set up the remaining cards in the middle of the table as the stockpile.

Starting the Play

To start the game, the first player is the one who draws the queen from the deck, where the player with the Queen of Spades starts the game. Through every turn, a player can play several matching cards in the middle of the table based on their value, not suit.

Taking Turns

While playing the swoop card game, on each player’s turn, they can play a card from their hand to the center pile by matching the card with the previous card’s rank or suit. The players can play as many matching cards as they have in their hand or on the four piles in front of them to choose from.

Swoop and Turns

If a player plays four or more of the same card, this is called a swoop, and the cards are taken away from the table. Whenever a player Swoops the pile, they get to play again, and if they play fewer than four cards, the next player to the left plays their hand. The game continues to the left, with players selecting cards that match the number of games or a lower-valued card.

Matching Cards

The game continues to the left, with players playing cards that either match the number played or a lower value card that matches, and suits do not matter. Then, you may play as few or as many matching cards as you hold in your hand and/or are on the four piles on the table in front of you.

Swooping

Whenever a player cannot play a card, they can swoop by announcing “swoop” and then slapping the middle pile before another player can. If they are successful, they add the entire pile to their hand and continue playing as long as they can swoop, and if they can’t, their turn ends. The Jokers and 10 cards are swoop cards and automatically swoop to the pile. When a player swoops the pile, they play again and continue to play as long as they can swoop the cards.

Scoring

The round ends when a player runs out of cards or there are no more plays left. Players add up their scores after each hand. The player with the most cards when the deck runs out wins. The scoring points are: Jokers and 10s are worth 50 points, Aces are worth 1 point, face cards are worth 10 points for each one, and number cards count as their rank value.

Round Ending and Winning

The round ends when a player runs out of cards or there are no more plays left. The game ends when a player reaches a predetermined score, where the score may vary according to the player’s decision before starting the game; it may be 500 points, 250-500 for 3 to 6 players, or 100-250 for more than 6 players. When the game reaches the defined score, the person with the lowest score wins.

The player who runs out of cards first ends the hand with no cards, and that person sums up the scores after collecting all the remaining cards in the other player’s hand. The player with the lowest score at the end of the game wins.
