Skip-Bo Junior Rules And Cards

Skip-Bo Junior is a simplified version of the original Skip-Bo, which is intended for younger players. The aim of Skip-Bo Junior is to be the first player to clear all the cards from your stockpile. The game is easy to play and teaches kids basic math concepts such as counting, arranging things, and thinking skills.

The aim of Skip-Bo Junior is to be the first player to clear all the cards from your stockpile.

Skip-Bo Junior Cards

The Junior Skip-Bo deck comprises 96 cards, including Skip-Bo cards and number cards from 1 to 12. The cards have animals, bird, and insects figures on them that help kids learn their names.

  • Numbered Cards: The Skip-Bo Junior deck includes a series of cards numbering from 1 to 12. Players can use these cards to create sequential stacks on the building piles or to play on top of other cards in their stockpile.
  • Skip-Bo Cards: The skip-bo cards can be played in any number, allowing players to determine the sequence of cards on the building piles or in their stockpile.

Skip-Bo Junior Rules

The game is for two to four players, and the oldest person comes up with the cards, and each player gets 10 cards from the dealer, which are their stockpile. The game is played by taking turns playing cards from the hand onto building piles or their stockpile. The cards can be played in ascending numerical order on the building piles or in addition to other cards on top of stockpile.

Objective

Taking Turns

The youngest player initiates first, and the play goes in the opposite direction. On the turn, the dealer gives you three cards face up, which you can place face down in any of the three piles. If you already have cards in your piles, these new cards will be placed on top of them.

Draw Piles

There are four building piles in the middle of the table, which start at one and count up to ten. On your turn, you can play any face-up card to any of the four building piles.

The main focus is to finish getting rid of all your cards in your stockpile before everyone else. The task is simple: you need to create building piles of cards in numerical sequence from 1 upward to 10. The first person who can finish getting rid of all their cards in stockpile before anyone else wins.

How To Play Skip-Bo Junior

Level 1

At the beginning level, the dealer will give three cards to each player, forming the “discard pile hand”. If the active player has any remaining cards from the previous round, the dealer will deal three new cards directly on top of the remaining cards to establish three stacks.

Then each player takes turns playing a card from their hand or stockpile onto the Building Piles. There can be no more than 4 active Building Piles in the game, and all the participants can play on any available Building Pile.

The Building Pile can be established by playing a #1 card or a Wild Skip-Bo card, which can be played to represent any number.

They can also play a Wild card to represent #4. When a Building Pile reaches #10, it is completed and discarded, allowing a new Building Pile to be started. On the player’s turn, they must try to make a play using the card from the top of their stockpile.

The play continues to move forward by adding cards to the Building Piles in numerical order until no card is left in their hands. When they are longer to play, the dealer runs out of fresh cards, he is supposed to be reshuffling all the cards from the Building Piles.

Level 2

At this level, the dealer gives three cards to each person, each player should hold the cards in their hand instead of laying them out in the middle of the table. Now use Building Piles from your stockpile and the cards in your hand, following the same rules as for Building Piles in Level 1.

When the player’s turn ends, take the remaining cards from their hand and place them face-up in the middle of the playing area. On follow-up turns, put the top card from any one of the Discard Piles onto the Building Piles.

Players can play cards from their stockpile, the three cards in their Hands. If you can play all three cards from your hand on your turn, the dealer will give you three more cards, and your turn continues!

Winning

The game continues with players drawing cards to make more and playing cards strategically to empty their stockpile. The first player to play all their cards from the stockpile first wins the game.
