About UNO Attack Mega Hit Rules & Cards

This UNO Attack® Mega Hit™ is an edition of the UNO Attack game that features a card launcher that shoots cards high in the air! When playing this game, players experience cool lights and sound effects that flash faster each time they push the button. This Mega Hit version includes 112 cards like UNO Attack Cards and is suitable for 2 to 10 players aged seven and above.

UNO Attack Mega Hit combines the standard UNO game mechanics with the unique card launcher and new “Hit” cards, introducing the “Mega Hit” mechanic. The card launcher holds the draw pile and releases cards randomly when a player presses the button. The game is considered challenging because the card launcher can randomly release multiple cards.

The goal of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards in each round. Players score points for the cards left in their opponents’ hands after winning a round. The ultimate objective is to become the first player to achieve a score of 500 points.

UNO Attack Mega Hit Rules

  • The rules for UNO Attack Mega Hit are similar to regular UNO, but with key additions related to the card launcher and “Hit” cards.
  • The main twist is using the card launcher instead of a traditional draw pile.
  • When a player needs to draw a card, they press the button on the launcher.
  • The launcher may or may not shoot out cards, and sometimes it shoots out many.
The Mega Hit edition rules are same as UNO Attack with the addition of a Mega Hit rule which means that when a special "Hit" card is played, the next player must press the launcher button on the game unit multiple times and add the shot cards to their hand. Essentially, the more "Hit" cards played consecutively, the more cards the next player could be forced to draw.
  • The key points about the Mega Hit rule include a Hit card, which is a special action cards like “Hit 1”, “Hit 2”, or “Wild Attack-Attack” that triggers the Mega Hit mechanic.
  • When a Hit card is played, the next player must press the launcher button the specified number of times.
  • If multiple “Hit” cards are played after each other, the next player must perform all the required turns and get those all cards.
  • In this game, players take turns playing a card from their hand that matches the color or number of the top card in the discard pile.
  • If a player cannot play a card, they must press the button on the launcher, which may shoot out one or multiple cards.
  • The game includes special cards, like Wild Attack, Discard All, and Reverse, that add an extra layer of strategy to the game.
  • The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the game round.
  • The objective of the game is to become the first player to achieve a score of 500 scoring points.
  • A player can score points by being the first to get rid of all their cards in each round.
  • The game ends when one player reaches 500 points, and the player with the highest score comes out on top.

How to Play UNO Attack Mega Hit

To play UNO Attack Mega Hit, you will need 2 to 10 players aged seven or older. The game includes a card launcher unit, a deck of 112 cards, and an instruction manual. The cards consist of numbered cards (1-9 in four colors), and various action and wild cards. The card launcher requires three C-size alkaline batteries (not included).

To start the game, the dealer distributes seven cards to each player after shuffling the deck. The dealer will place the remaining cards face down in the launcher, and the card launcher will shoot them out at each player’s turn.

Whenever a player needs to draw a card, they press the button on the card launcher, and the launcher may or may not shoot out cards. When the launcher does not shoot out cards, the player’s turn ends. When the launcher shoots out cards, the player brings them to their hand to play them.

How to Play UNO Attack Mega Hit

Starting the round

The round begins with the player sitting to the left of the dealer, who goes first, and pressing the launcher button to get the cards. When the card shoots out, the player matches the card with the cards in their hands either by color, symbol, or action, and the play proceeds clockwise.

Taking turns

In Mega Hit, each player will take turns playing cards on top of the discard pile, which means the cards are shot out by the Mega Hit launcher (also known as UNO card spitter) after pressing the button. The playing cards can be played if they match the color or number of the top card on the discard pile of remaining cards in Mega Hit Launcher. If a player cannot play a card, they must press the button on the launcher once, and their turn ends.

Special cards

Playing special cards changes gameplay:

  • Reverse, changes the direction of play.
  • Skip causes the next player to lose their turn.
  • Discard All allows you to discard all cards of the same color as the top card on the discard pile, or on top of another Discard All card.
  • Wild Card allows you to choose the color for the next turn. You can play it at any time, even if you have another playable card.

Action cards

Action cards that involve the launcher:

  • Hit 1 requires the next player to press the launcher button once.
  • Hit 2 requires the next player to press the launcher button twice.
  • Wild Attack-Attacks a Wild card, where you choose a color and select any other player to “Attack”; the chosen player must press the launcher button twice.

Remember the Mega Hit rule: when a Hit card is played against you, you can play any Hit card from your hand on top of it to avoid performing the hit and pass the total hits to the next player.

Matching cards

While playing UNO Mega Attack, a player can play a Hit card on top of another Hit card to create a Mega Hit stack. The Wild Attack cards allow players to name a color and attack another player with cards. The Wild Hit 4 cards require the next player to press the launcher button four times, and the Wild Hit-Fire cards require the next player to press the launcher button until it fires.

Going out and penalties

When a player has only one card left, they must say “UNO” If they fail to do so, they must press the button on the launcher twice. If a player goes out, they receive points for the cards left in the other players’ hands. The player with the lowest number of points at the end of each round wins.

Scoring

A round ends when a player successfully plays their last card (“goes out”). The player who went out scores points based on the cards remaining in the other players’ hands. Points are totalled for the winner of the round.

Card values are as follows:

  • Number cards (1-9): Face value
  • Reverse: 20 points
  • Skip: 20 points
  • Hit 1: 20 points
  • Hit 2: 40 points (Note: some sources state 20 points for Hit).
  • Discard All: 30 points
  • Wild Card: 50 points
  • Wild Attack-Attack: 50 points
  • Wild Customizable/blank card: 50 points

The round ends, and the next round

The round ends when a player goes out, and the scores are calculated for each round. When one round ends, the next round starts with the dealer, who is the player to the left of the previous dealer. The dealer again shuffles the cards and deals them; the game goes on.

Winning the game

The game consists of multiple rounds. The game ends when one player reaches a score of 500 points. The player who reaches 500 points first is typically declared the winner. An alternative scoring method involves keeping a running total of points in hand when others go out; in this variation, when someone reaches 500, the player with the lowest score wins.

Variations Of UNO Attack Mega Hit

The sources mention specific rules for variations of UNO Attack:

  • Two Player Game: Special rules apply, including Reverse and Skip cards acting like a Skip and allowing the player to immediately play another card. Also, after a Hit 2, play immediately returns to the player who played the card.
  • Challenge Game (Elimination): Players track the points left in their hand each round. When a player reaches a designated score (suggested as 500), they are eliminated. The last two players play head-to-head using the Two-Player Game rules, and the winner of the final hand is the game winner.
